We hope that your teen will profit both academically and socially from Shanan Tutorials. To help the Tutorials program run smoothly, and for the student to benefit from these classes, we ask the following:
Make sure your teen:

–Attends Study Hall in the designated areas when on campus and not in class.
–Dresses according to the dress code: blouses, knit shirts, button-down shirts (long enough that they could be tucked in), pants, modest shorts, skirts. T-shirts are fine: however, they should not contain vulgar or offensive sayings (Maintain Biblical standards). Modest, neat, and tasteful appearance please.

–Contacts the tutor if he or she is absent to find out what assignments were missed.

Additional Policy Items:
–Cellphone use in the classroom is prohibited unless explicitly approved by the teacher/board and is being used for educational purposes only. Shanan staff/tutors are not responsible for cellphones.
–Photographs/video/audio recordings taken anywhere on school property must have written permission from all parties seen or heard.
–ANY posts to social media which include other Shanan students, tutors, administrators, volunteer parents, or any person outside their immediate family, require written consent from all parties involved.
Parents Or Guardians must:
–Review curriculum prior to enrollment to ensure it aligns with the expectations, rigorousness, and worldview of your homeschool. Any individualization of materials may be done at home by the parents. Tutors will maintain consistent progress through curriculum for the continuity of the class.
–Make payment for registration and classes on time; pay for all books and supplies requested by the tutor.
–Support the efforts of the tutor to provide instruction to the student. The Tutorials program is a collaborative effort between parents and tutors; therefore, parents must remain engaged with the educational process.
–Parents are the primary teachers for their student. The instruction offered through the Tutorials program is only intended to supplement the work done through the curriculum at home.
–Parents must physically supervise the taking of any tests that are sent home to maintain the integrity we expect of the students. For an accurate assessment of the student’s knowledge, parents are expected to follow the tutor’s guidelines for test taking.
–Drop off and pick up non-driving students on time. The hours are 8:00 am – 2:45 pm. Students cannot be left alone at Spirit of Joy, therefore, must be promptly picked up at 2:45.
**Failure to comply with above policies will result in disciplinary action. If at any time your teen is disobedient, disrespectful, cheating, has excessive unexcused absences, or fails to do the assignments required, a phone conference with the parents and a review of the situation will occur. Upon review, the Shanan Tutorials Board reserves the right to dismiss non-compliant students from the Tutorials program without refund.**
Additional Notes: While it is our hope to meet your students face-to-face and in a mask-free classroom setting, we don’t know what the future brings. We follow our church and the government guidelines which may include masks and distancing. If necessary, we will be prepared to successfully conduct virtual classes. The registration fees and tuition payments payable to Shanan Tutorials, LLC are non-refundable whether we meet in person or are required to shift to distance learning. If a class is cancelled for other reasons, such as low enrollment, the fees will be refunded. No partial refund will be given for early withdrawal. Parents are responsible to pay for the full course as the tutor has prepared and counted on the attendance of enrolled students for the year.
